The Bennington Housing Authority is a public agency. It operates under guidelines set by law and by the Feberal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Its purpose is to provide and manage low-cost housing. The construction of the buildings is paid for by HUD out of taxes paid by everyone. The buildings are operated on the income from rents and an annual subsidy from HUD. The Board of Commissioners Members are appointed by the Bennington Selectmen
